Legal Structure and Registration
The Jack Clan Family Society is formally registered as a non-profit corporation in the State of Utah, United States. This provides the legal framework needed to safeguard our heritage and operate responsibly on behalf of members worldwide.
United States Registration
The Society is incorporated in Utah as a non-profit entity. This registration provides:
- formal legal standing and public recognition
- the ability to hold and protect intellectual property in the Society’s name
- a defined structure for officers, governance and compliance
- a solid basis for managing future membership subscriptions and donations
The official registration number and corporate documents are held on file with the Society. Members who require these details for formal or genealogical purposes may request them through the officers.
Why the United States
Several options were considered. A large portion of our engaged membership is based in the United States, and the Utah non-profit system offers a practical, cost-effective and stable environment for a global family organisation such as ours. Registration in Utah also enables the protection of key Clan assets, including the tartan, crest artwork and Coat of Arms, under United States intellectual property law.
Scotland as Our Cultural Home
Scotland remains the heart of the Clan Jack identity. It is our origin, our Chief’s home and the source of our traditions. Registering the Society in Utah does not alter or diminish this. It simply provides a modern legal base that allows us to operate internationally while honouring our Scottish heritage.
